Douglas R. Rosenzweig is an associate of French & Casey, LLP who handles cases in the following areas: construction accidents, property damage, premises liability, transportation/railroad law and product liability defense. Since joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Rosenzweig has worked on numerous construction law cases from inception through trial with an emphasis on defending trade contractors from Labor Law 200, 240(1) and 241(6) causes of action. Additionally, Mr. Rosenzweig has successfully represented clients exposed to multi-million dollar property damage claims as well as a Class 1 Railroad in a wide variety of administrative and legal proceedings.
Since joining the Firm, Mr. Rosenzweig has been involved in the trial of several cases. In July 2010, Mr. Rosenzweig served as lead trial counsel and obtained a defense verdict in a high profile scaffold case pending at the Supreme Court, New York County. Earlier, Mr. Rosenzweig made significant contributions in the trial preparation and trial of a significant Labor Law 240(1) case involving a paralyzed construction laborer, having primary responsibility in connection with all pre-trial motions. Mr. Rosenzweig's contributions facilitated the advantageous settlement of this matter prior to a jury verdict.
Related to his trial practice, Mr. Rosenzweig was a featured speaker at the 2011 National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel’s Special Litigation Conference in Park City, Utah where he gave a presentation entitled "Ethics and Social Media". Mr. Rosenzweig has also co-authored three articles published in Scaffolding Industry Magazine entitled: "Sidewalk Bridges and the General Public, How to Minimize Liability for Trips, Slips and Falls Underneath Sidewalk Bridges"; "Overlooking Minor Details in a Contracted Job can Result in Major Problems"; and "Sidestep Sidewalk-Bridge Risks."
In August, 2011, Mr. Rosenzweig was appointed to the Executive Committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
A member of the State Bar of New York, Mr. Rosenzweig is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. In addition to membership in several professional associations, Mr. Rosenzweig is active in local politics, serving as a member of the Kings County Democratic County Committee.
In 2003, Mr. Rosenzweig earned a Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law where he was an award winning member of the Holderness Moot Court. Additionally, Mr. Rosenzweig served as an Honor Court Justice and as the Law School Attorney General. Upon graduation, he was awarded membership in the James and Carolyn B. Davis Society which recognizes members of the graduating class who have demonstrated integrity, leadership, dedication and service on behalf of the School of Law. In 2000, Mr. Rosenzweig earned a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in History from the University of Florida, and he remains a lifelong Gator football fan.
Mr. Rosenzweig enjoys travelling, and together with his wife Jessica and son Charlie, has travelled to Europe, South America and Asia. He has also served as a Justice for the Edward Frossell Annual Moot Court Competition held at New York Law School.
